Ezra's team takes drastic action to free Lothal, entering Imperial HQ, and Thrawn returns to stop them; Ezra must surrender and confront a greater evil.

What did everyone think of the final episode of Star Wars Rebels season four?

      Loading editor
    • Well, my brain just exploded. So much so that I think I'm going to skip the all-caps fangirling this time and just list off what I really enjoyed. The action in this episode kept moving smoothly without being overwhelming. Excellent character development for Ezra--I thought it really brought his character full circle, just like they did with Kanan. The purrgil were unexpected but a nice touch for Ezra to play a major role in driving the Empire off Lothal. Also loved seeing Ryder and Pryce interact; lot of callbacks to the novel Thrawn. As for Thrawn... yeah, I'm just glad they didn't kill him. I wonder what they'll do with his next novel. And Ahsoka's return... I had a funny feeling that was the direction they would go in, and what made the last two minutes of the finale so secretive. A nice touch and awesome way to end the series. :) #AhsokaLives

Alsooooooo... HOLY CRAP WHAT THE WHAT EVEN I JUST CAN'T! HERA WAS PREGNANT?!?!?!

...when did she and Kanan even have time for that?

In all seriousness, really an excellent finale. I enjoyed every minute of both episodes and character growth they entailed. I like how they incorporated both strategic and symbolic victories by uniting the people of Lothal. It was a fitting end both for the Ghost Crew and Lothal's story and the series overall, whether you're a TCW fan or just watched rebels. Both shows came to an end today. And they brought a satisfying conclusion for all the characters we've come to know over the past decade. Even Hondo.

      And Gregor. Vode an, ramikad.

    • The finale was perfect. That's all I can say about it.

Even when I only watched a few episodes from Season 1 a few years ago, I knew this was a great work of art. And now that Rebels is complete, it is a part of me. Don't know if I've ever mentioned it, but I was going through a bit of a rough time when I first started watching this, and it was a solace of sorts. I'm glad I found it when I did.

    • DAVE FILONI, YOU MAD GENIUS! YOU MAD, CRAZY, WONDERFUL JEDI MASTER OF A GENIUS!!! THAT IS HOW YOU END A SERIES!!!

I... my brain is just... happy broken. I want to cry. I want to laugh. I want to cheer. They did it. They freed Lothal. Ezra... kid, you made me prouder than I ever thought you would. :) :) :)

I'm going to be freaking out to this one for a while.

..."When you get back, come find me." That's what Ezra made Ahsoka promise in the World Between Worlds. Guys... I think Ezra knew what he was going to do this whole bloody time. He had everything prepared to a T, he had that recording in Chopper, he had Mart set up for the purgill cavalry... Ezra knew. He knew that whole time, and he planned everything. Kid, you shabla amazing Jedi, you...

"I see your defeat, like many arms surrounding you in a cold embrace." Okay, sooo... anyone else face-palming at how awesomely-obvious that was?

PELLEAON IS CANON NOW AND I DON'T EVEN CARE THAT THE PURGILL PROBABLY KILLED HIM BECAUSE HE'S CANON NOW.

"You will be remembered, Captain Gregor. We'll take your heroic story back to the Republic, and we will watch for your return..." Ni su'cuyi, gar kyr'adyc, ni partayli, gar darasuum, ner vod. You will be missed.

So, wait, this whole time, Hera was... what? Just... what?! That was, uh... that was unexpected, to say the least. I mean, it's completely awesome―he didn't even get a line, and I already adore Jacen Syndulla and want him to have a role in whatever show/book/comic might come next. And come on, Jacen? Kylo Ren gets Ben Skywalker's name, but Hera and Kanan's kid get Jacen Solo's? It's crazy but I LOVE IT. But, still, this whole time, Hera was running around and shooting things and crashing gliders and blowing stuff up, and she was... what?! I will never be able to watch the second half of S4 the same ever again now... When did that even happen?! Geez, just when you couldn't be more gutted about Kanan's death, you find out he doesn't even get to meet his son! And Jacen has his eyes, now I want to bawl again.

DAVE FILONI WAS CHOPPER THE WHOLE OSIK'LA TIME. Well played, man, well played. And it's official, Ahsoka is now Gandalf the White and Sabine is a pseudo-Aragorn and they're off on an adventure and IT. IS. AWESOME.

I have to say... All day long, I was dreading it and terrified to the point of mild anxiety attacks, but by the time those wonderful movie-like end credits were rolling I was jumping around my TV room screaming like I was five-years-old again. I can't even think of proper words to praise what I just saw.

And, y'know, it's not really the end. We'll see them again somehow, I know it. What was it Ahsoka said all those years ago? "This is a new day. A new beginning."

Rebels, it's been a pleasure to go on this amazing journey with you. And I can't wait to see where we'll go next. :)

    • So Hera was pregnant for the entire civil war? The kid looks goofy but I'm kind of glad.

      Ahsoka looked Dope.

If Ezra survived, Thrawn may have? Get ready for nonsensical Thrawn = Snoke now.

I'm glad Kallus got a bit of relief.

        Loading editor
    • Um... no. The war lasted three or four years, no one can be pregnant that long, I'm pretty sure that's biologically impossible even in Star Wars, because it definitely is here on Earth. She was only pregnant for probably less than a year after Lothal was freed. That's kinda how it works, man.

Wait a minute... Guys, that's why Dave Filoni wouldn't confirm that it was Hera flying the Ghost at Scarif! Depending on where in the year before Yavin S4 takes place, Jacen would've either just been born or about to be born around that time! Dang it, Filoni, you're good! His long-term storytelling plans make Thrawn look like a doofus...

        Loading editor
    • Yeah you’re right about that. Probably Rex was flying the Ghost since he stayed along with Hera for the Battle of Endor we can assume he did the same for the battle of Scarif.

        Loading editor
    • Yeah this finale was superb, loved all of it. The time jump was confusing at first but got my head round it. Ezra has moved WAY up my list of favourite characters now. He was just awesome.

    • I don’t like Sabine’s haircut. At the beginning, I thought she was a totally new character who was the daughter of Ezra and Sabine. 😂🤣

        Loading editor
    • Eh, it'll take getting used to, but so did all her other 'dos. I think it's Ezra-inspired, and while I loved her S4 haircut the most, I still like this new one. I love that new armor, too, she and Ahsoka looked totally rad in the epilogue. Really wish they had included concept art flr the new looks in the episode guide...

        Loading editor
    • , does anyone else think that ahsoka, sabine and ezra might appear in episode 9, mabye

        Loading editor
    • Mm, I doubt it. It would be beyond amazing, but that's a really long time after the epilogue. A lot can happen in thirty years.

You guys know what this epilogue means, though, right? This means Ahsoka lives past RotJ, past Endor, past Anakin's death and the moment Luke becomes a Jedi. Ahsoka Tano could meet Luke Skywalker. Anakin Skywalker's Padawan could get to sit down and tell stories about how he was a good man before he was manipulated into becoming a monster to the son he never got to tell thlse stories to himself. I know they have to be careful to avoid small-galaxy syndrome with everyone knowing everyone else, but this is an opportunity they'd be crazy to miss. Luke knows all about the fall and failure of the Jedi by the time of TLJ, who better to tell him that story than the Padawan they let walk away?

    • This episode made me want to sob and scream and yell "WHAT? NO! IT CAN'T END!" But I loved it with all my heart and I will always love it!!!!

Ezra, you officially became my favorite SWR character, and you have moved into my top five ultimate favorite SW characters.  That kid... there are just no words.  May the Force be with you. Always.

Sabine, please grow your hair back.  (Haha, I'm just joking.) She was awesome in this episode, and I loved to see how her relationship with Ezra really grew.  I mean, in the first Rebels Episode ever, Spark of Rebellion, Sabine hated Ezra.  She was just absolutely annoyed by him.  But now, you see that she really, genuinly cares for him.  That just made my heart break and made my eyes fill with tears.  (FILONI, WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO US????!!!!!?)

      Hera......

WHAT???? YOU HAVE A SON?????? Like WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN????????????????? That is so confusing and amazing and incredibly awesome!

      Zeb, you have not changed one bit.  I'm glad 'Purple Guy' lived through the whole season (;

Chopper; Or should I say DAVE FILONI!!!!!!!???????????!!!!!!!!!!! He was playing Chopper the whole time!!! I like legit laughed out loud. That was hilarious.

AHSOKA IS BACK!!! AND SHE LOOKS SO AMAZING!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loth-wolves- thank you for teaching that creepy monkey assassin a lesson. Rukh was creeping me out a little too much.

      And Kanan......

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!!!

      K I'm done!

    • I've never understood the point of 'shipping' and probably never will, so you definitely have no argument from me...

I'd love an Ezra book, but I'd wait to see what Filoni has in store. Because, let's face it, Star Wars character books are great but a Dave Filoni-helmed series about a character of his own creation is always better. And that's coming from someone who wants to make a living as a novelist. BRING ON THE NEXT SERIES!!! :) :) :)

And not to sound hypocritical, but we should probably bring on the next on-topic post, too, before we derail this thread... Which should be easy because that finale just has waaaaay too many things to nerd out about! I remember seeing someone once complain that Dave Filoni wouldn't be able to properly finish Rebels since he'd never really finished a series before, I think it was someone in the YouTube comments (*shudder*) on a Rebels Recon video. While meaning no offense whatsoever, the only response I can come up with is the joking question of how's that crow taste, my friend? This was the best finale to a series that I have ever seen. Never doubt the man in the fedora. :)

    • That was an excellent finale, who else laughed when the guards were force pushed by Ezra and only one of them went flying while the other two stayed standing aha.

    • I liked Palpatine's cunning - appearing with his handsome "Supreme Chancellor" look to better trick Ezra into opening that gateway for him. If we consider Ahsoka's final appearance a reference to Gandalf the White, this could be a subtle reference as well - Tolkien's greatest villains have a penchant for putting on fake (often beautiful) appearances to deceive their intended victims.

It was nice to see the Royal Guards too. Their robeless appearance made me chuckle - cloth simulation is costly. But on the other hand, it sort of invokes the appearance of Snoke's Praetorian Guards. (insert a "Snoke is actually an Ezra-Thrawn hybrid created by Barriss Offee" conspiracy theory here)

The purrgil made for an awesome Chekhov's gun - at this point most viewers had probably forgotten how Ezra protected these creatures and made a connection with them (despite Hera's protests). And now they returned the favor. Good guys :)

The Zeb and Kallus moment was a nice touch of closure - Kallus put to rest his guilt about the events of Lasan, and Zeb could put his own past behind him as well.

Don't know what the next series is going ot be like, but I have a feeling at least one episode from it will touch upon Sabine and Ahsoka's quest to find Ezra. (insert a "Sabioka are secretly a couple" conspiracy theory here)

P.S. The conspiracy theories are just jokes, of course, please no angry replies :P

    • When Ezra entered the last remnants of the temple and was about to open the portal, both me and my dad were screeching 'DON'T DO IT EZRA!'

I swear, my sigh of relief probably shook the house when Ezra made that temple collapse.

(Haha, Palpatine wasn't too happy about that)

    • I liked the Ezra and the whales vs Thrawn and his stormtroopers scene. Why do I get the feeling they will be involved with Snoke’s rise of power now that the episode ends after Return of the Jedi. Maybe in the next series, it is highly possible we are going to see Luke. I really hope Jacen wasn’t part of the Jedi Order that Kylo Ren destroyed, it would be a bummer if Kylo killed him. But like Order 66, theres gotta be survivors.

It's like Jess said on the Theories thread: he could have been elsewhere during Kylo's rampage. The next series could focus on him trying to find his way in the galaxy after the New Jedi were destroyed with his training only partially complete. It hasn't even been confirmed and I'm already on board with that!

Also, I'm sorry I didn't fangirl over this with you at the time, Jess, but I literally squealed when I heard Thrawn say Pellaeon's name. :D :D :D That probably means he'll be in the next Thrawn novel! YAAAAAAASSS!!!

    • Oh, don't worry, I did more than enough fangirl squealing during the episode for both of us. I think I rattled our neighbor's windows... And my mother's eardrums... I'm actually surprised my foxhound didn't howl along with me... I actually had to back the show up several times to make sure I wasn't hearing it wrong. :)

I came across a Dave Filoni interview on... i09, I think? Anyways, he said that while he doesn't have any plans for Jacen going forward (YET) a lot of creative heads at Lucasfilm are very interested in the future of Spectre-7... MY HOPES FOR A JACEN SYNDULLA SERIES ARE VINDICATED!!! :) :) :)

Aha, I thought he was the person that was manning the cannon but then that rebel got blown up by an Imperial. I'm pretty sure he stayed with Wolffe, Vizago and Mart but not seen on screen.

    • (bit late to the party, no idea who i missed that the show had started back up {and ended}, but whatever)

it was a good ending and show altogether. i did find it weird how much force pushing they used and not alot of stabbing (i can see why, keep it pg and there no robots like in the clone wars).

i was also surprized that Hera had a kid, a bit more that she and Kanan "did the do" yet she hadnt told him she loved him... also nice to know Twi'lek and humans can interbreed (its prob been said somewhere, but its the first i remember seeing it)

I like Sabines new look, hell, i would like Sabine no matter what, shes kickass. hope she finds Ezra. at there age i have a small bit of hope they may show up in the main movies, be it very old. by what we saw of luke he seems about the same age, so it could happen. Ahsoka showing up.... i donno, how old can Togrutas get?

i also like the ending how it was set after episode 6 (almost missed that part). it also tells you why we we havent herd about them in the main steam, they were just 1 of alot of ships in the fights

oh god i just have a flash of a thought..... if Ezra is found then Ezra and Sabines could get together and also have a kid...... that kid could be

      1. some random we may see in a future movie, with force power or not

      2. could be ray (lets see the dhit get started over that!!!)
