I mean even if they pull something where she rejects it and gives it to the woman in the trailer at the last minute so that she can travel with her friends, the fact that she would qualify for it is really offputting to me. She's only 18, 19 at the absoutle most, and she's supposed to best every person, every Mandalorian who comes to claim the Darksaber despite the fact that they have (multiple times over) much more experience and weight than her in everything that makes her formidable because...she's a main character? I can't stand those kinds of developments in stories. And I hope they don't try to justify it by saying "Well she trained with two Jedi." That doesn't make a difference if the training period isn't yknow...years upon years in depth. Hers is what? A few weeks? Days? Maybe a month? Just training with a Jedi for a bit doesn't automaticlaly give you an edge over everyone in swordplay, especially since the main reason for Jedi being as good as they are in swordplay is the force!! Something she doesn't have! Now if she is displayed to be force sensitive, then okay, I'll give her actually getting a lot better it a pass, but that still doesn't justify her short training period or her winning everything . I really like Sabine and I definitley don't want to see what progression she has cheapened.
I agree that it's a bit much to expect that she's going to be accepted as leader of Mandalore-I don't care how symbolic the Darksaber is, picking up an old relic doesn't scream "I'm qualified to rule a planet" to me.
My idea was that Sabine gives the mantle to Bo-Katan Kryze until she's old enough and has more experience. Bo-Katan's older, wiser, and has technically already been a kind of de facto Mand'alor before at some point during the Siege. Sabine is smart, quick-thinking, loyal to a fault, pretty much everything a good Mandalorian is. She'd make an excellent Mand'alor someday, but I think she's too devoted to the growing rebellion to make a good Mand'alor right now.
Perhaps, but would the majority of Mandalorians accept Bo-Katan? Sabine's connection to the Death Watch was purely familial, and she has the support of Fenn Rau; Bo-Katan was-by all appearances-Pre Vizsla's second-in-command.
Yes, but once Maul killed Vizsla and took over Mandalore, Bo-Katan lead the Mandalorian rebellion against him, and from what I can tell from that Siege of Mandalore concept art Dave Filoni showed at Celebration Europe this year, Ahsoka was supposed to appoint Bo-Katan the leader of the Republic-allied forces―effectively she was Mand'alor, at least to everyone not allied with the Maul-dalorians (as I like to call them). Bo-Katan was Death Watch, sure, but she fought to liberate Mandalore from Maul's control and is probably fighting to free them from the Empire as well, and if Sabine did manage to claim the title but pass it to Bo-Katan I'm sure that Sabine's support and her history would definitely make her an acceptable Mand'alor in the eyes of the Mando'ade.
