During the time of the Clone Wars Sundari was the home of Duchess Satine Kryze, the leader of the pacifistic New Mandalorians, and as such was targeted by the militant House Vizsla as they sought to reestablish the traditional warrior culture of the Mandalorians. It was later "attacked" by the Shadow Collective and "liberated" by the Death Watch as part of a scheme by Maul, who soon seized the city and rule of Mandalore for himself. It was there that he and his brother Savage Opress were confronted by Darth Sidious and defeated, resulting in Opress' death; Maul would later return to the planet only to be forced to flee after the arrival of Clone Troopers led by Clone Captain Rex and former Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano. Sundari was subsequently occupied by the Galactic Republic and then by the Galactic Empire, who installed former Death Watch officer Gar Saxon as Viceroy of Mandalore. Saxon would later contact Ursa Wren on Krownest from Sundari, and received word from her of the presence of several Rebels-including her daughter Sabine Wren-on that world.
