Mace Windu was a Jedi Master during the Clone Wars. Windu held the position of second chair on the Jedi High Council and was considered to rival Master Yoda in both power and skill. Unlike other Jedi, he wielded a purple bladed lightsaber rather than blue or green.

Background
Mace Windu was the master of Jedi Depa Billaba whom he took on as an apprentice until she was promoted to the rank of "Jedi Knight", also becoming a member of the Jedi Council.

During the final days of the war, after finding out that Chancellor Palpatine was actually the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, he led a group of Jedi to apprehend the Chancellor.
