- “Master Windu spoke highly of your heroics at the Battle of Lessu."
"Ah. Mace Windu. Outnumbered 100 to one, we charged across Lessu's energy bridge to certain doom. We would not be stopped. They named that attack in songs, 'The Hammer of Ryloth” - ―Kanan Jarrus and Cham Syndulla[src]
Mace Windu was a Jedi Master during the Clone Wars. Windu held the position of second chair on the Jedi High Council and was considered to rival Master Yoda in both power and skill. Unlike other Jedi, he wielded a unique purple-bladed lightsaber rather than blue or green.
Biography[]
Background[]
Mace Windu was the master of Jedi Depa Billaba, whom he took on as an apprentice until she was promoted to the rank of "Jedi Knight", also becoming a member of the Jedi Council.
He participated in the First Battle of Geonosis, Battle of Ryloth and Battle for Anaxes, leading the 91st Reconnaissance Corps' Lightning Squadron with Clone Commander Ponds throughout the Clone Wars.
During the final days of the war, after finding out that Chancellor Palpatine was actually the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, he led a group of Jedi to apprehend the Chancellor. Though the rest of the Jedi were killed, Windu held his ground and was able to defeat the Sith Lord in a duel. He almost finished him off until Anakin intervened and sliced off Windu's right hand, allowing Sidious to shock him with Force lightning and push him out the window of the Senate building to his death.
