Garel was a Outer-Rim planet located near Lothal. It was the site of an Imperial arms deal overseen by Minister Maketh Tua, and later served as a base of operations for Phoenix Squadron until they had to flee in "Legacy" when they were found by the The Empire.
History[]
Droids in Distress[]
The Rebels find themselves low on everything, food, explosives, fuel and unless they can find some, they will be out of business. Kanan already has a suggestion which involves a theft of Imperial shipment for crime-lord Cikatro Vizago.
They soon arrive on Garel and head for Hanger Bay Seven where they discover the Shipment to be much to Zeb's horror, T-7 Ion Disruptors: Weapons that were banned by the senate as they were capable of short circuiting an entire ship but to Zeb, that was not the reason why they were banned. The Rebels try to move fast but they are soon caught by the Imperials and hold Ezra and Zeb at gunpoint. As the troopers approach to inspect the crates, Zeb engages them in a physical confrontation, giving themselves a chance to get off Garel with the shipment.
Brothers of the Broken Horn[]
The Ghost later docked here after becoming a part of Phoenix Squadron, and Ezra departed from the planet aboard the Phantom to investigate a distress call from Vizago's ship. He thus encountered Hondo Ohnaka, who stole the Phantom only to have the autopilot bring him back to Garel, where he encountered the rebels and a returning Ezra before departing for parts unknown.
Blood Sisters[]
Garel was later chosen as a rendezvous point between the crew of the Ghost and a droid courier carrying top secret information. Ezra and Sabine Wren were sent to meet the courier, only to run into Sabine's old comrade Ketsu Onyo, a Mandalorian bounty hunter. The two parties fought over the droid and attracted the attention of nearby Stormtroopers, and the two Mandalorians soon departed the planet in separate ships while Ezra was left on Garel. Sabine subsequently returned after renewing her friendship with Ketsu and delivering the courier to safety.
Stealth Strike[]
The crew of the Ghost-minus Ezra-were on Garel when they received word that Phoenix Home had gone missing, and Sabine deduced that they had fallen victim to an Imperial Interdictor, a ship armed with a gravity well. Hera Syndulla then assigned the unlikely team of Kanan and Rex to impersonate a pair of Stormtroopers and rescue the captured ship, whose crew included Ezra. After acquiring armor from some local troopers, the pair departed Garel in the stolen Shuttle S257.
The Future of the Force[]
Ahsoka Tano visited the crew of the Ghost on Garel with information regarding the activities of the Inquisitors, and requested that Kanan, Ezra, and Zeb travel to a set of coordinates she had decoded. Unfortunately, during the mission, Ezra accidentally spoke of Garel as the rebel base in the hearing of a Viper Probe Droid, who soon conveyed this information to the Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother.
Legacy[]
Using this information, Imperial forces based on Lothal launched an assault on Garel in order to crush the Phoenix rebels. Imperial Stormtroopers in Garel City also took part in the assault. After fighting Imperial ground forces, the crew of the Ghost and several rebel ships managed to take-off but were immediately fired upon by the Imperial fleet, which included several Star Destroyers and TIE Fighters. Two of the Phoenix cell's ships were shot down and crashed onto the streets of Garel City. Several Imperial laser blasts also hit civilian targets on Garel City.
During the assault, Admiral Kassius Konstantine's Star Destroyer Relentless caught Commander Sato's ship, the Liberator in a tractor beam projector. However, Hera used the Ghost to knock out the tractor beam; allowing Sato and the rest of the Phoenix fleet to jump into hyperspace. Meanwhile, Ezra along with Kanan and Chopper departed in the Phantom, for Lothal to find his parents Ephraim and Mira Bridger.
