This is LRC-01. I am bringing in a citizen under a charge of treason.
―Cumberlayne Aresko[src]

Commandant Cumberlayne Aresko (codenamed LRC-01) was an Imperial Officer who served at the Imperial Academy on Lothal. He was stationed on Lothal to make sure citizens were loyal to the Empire.

Biography[]

Encountering the Lothal Rebels[]

While on Lothal, Cumberlayne served as a high-ranking official, alongside Taskmaster Myles Grint. Cumberlayne never ceased to punish the city's residents for acts of "treason". One such incident of this was when Cumberlayne ordered the arrest of a random citizen, who spoke freely about the Empire's oppression on Lothal.

Cumberalyne was quick to arrest the merchant, having him sent to a city penitentiary. The order wasn't carried out however, due to an "emergency" in another part of the city. This broadcast turned out to be the creation of a young orphan named Ezra Bridger, who stole Cumberlayne's comlink. Moments after arriving at the "rendezvous point", an Imperial speeder exploded, injuring several Stormtroopers. In response to the attack, Supply Master Yogar Lyste had two Imperial Combat Drivers attempt to hide the supplies, to no avail.

Hours after the incident, Cumberlayne met with Imperial Security Bureau Agent Kallus, who informed Cumberlayne that he was not of the first Imperial station to be ambushed, and that this was one of many rebel-related attacks. Considering this to be the spark of a rebellion, Kallus revealed to Cumberlayne that he was determined to put an end to the attacks.

Tutoring at the Imperial Academy[]

He was supervising and training the Cadets to become Stormtroopers. He talked with the Inquisitor about the cadets, and told him to come to the academy to see if any of them were "too special", meaning they were possibly force sensitive.

Incident on Empire Day[]

Cumberlayne Aresko was in charge of organizing the Empire Day ceremony. He was then a witness of a rebel attack while at the ceremony. Shortly after, Aresko was also attempting to stop the transport that the Rebels stole but failed.

Final Failure and Execution[]

Aresko made one final attempt to catch the Ghost crew by chasing them down aboard a troop transport and attempting to trap them within a small town. The rebels managed to subdue his men and escape once again. Aresko along with Miles Grint were called in to a briefing by Grand Moff Tarkin, only to be executed by the Inquisitor for their failure. Their deaths served as a grim warning to Agent Kallus, Minister Tua, and even the Inquisitor that Tarkin would similarly punish any further failures.

Personality[]

There is no friendship in war. The only thing that matters is victory. Victory at any cost.
―Cumberlayne Aresko[src]

Aresko was very loyal to the Empire, and cruel and unsympathetic to all those around him. His arrogance and overestimation of his own importance were his greatest weaknesses. These weaknesses made other Imperials hold him in contempt

His lack of sympathy for those around him extended to his fellow Imperials, as he clearly enjoyed lording over and tormenting young Imperial cadets and teaching them the Empire does not accept faliure which is ironic since he has failed several times which lead to his execution by The Grand Inquisitor on Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin's orders.
