The Chosen One is a legendary figure of Jedi prophecy foretold as being one who would destroy the Sith Order once and for all and bring balance to The Force. The prophecy indicated that the Chosen One would be conceived by Midi-chlorians, microscopic lifeforms through whom all life shared a connection to the Force; this led the Jedi to believe that Anakin Skywalker was the Chosen One, because Anakin had the highest concentration of Midi-chlorians (over 20 000) in his body, beyond Master Yoda or any known Jedi. Following his fall to the dark side, however, Obi-Wan Kenobi came to regard his son Luke Skywalker as the Chosen One, or so he told the former Sith Apprentice Maul shortly before he died.
