- “The Ghost! If we destroy that ship, it would mean a promotion for all of us.”
- ―Brunson, to an Imperial officer[src]
Brunson was a human female who served as a captain in the Galactic Empire.
History[]
Brunson earned the high rank of captain at a young age, proving herself to be a gifted but ultimately inexperienced commanding officer. An ambitious woman, Brunson sought to rise through Imperial ranks, regarding her duties on Geonosis with disdain and eager to destroy the Ghost in hopes of being promoted rather than report the ship in to any superior officers due to her desire of reaping the rewards of destroying a well-known rebel cell. This proved to be a naive decision on her part as she didn't fully appreciate the Ghost's feared reputation.
Rather than cut her losses after taking losses (two bombers and a squad of rocket troopers) she continued to recklessly press her luck, going as far as to attempt to trap the Ghost using her ship to block their escape, which resulted in her own ship being split in two by a pair of proton torpedoes. The Ghost's pilot Hera Syndulla remarked upon the captain's inexperience.
She was later interviewed along with Brom Titus and Captain Slavin during Grand Admiral Thrawn's search for the Rebellion agent Fulcrum.
Personality[]
Due to her prodigal talents elevating her to a considerable rank within the Empire, despite her age, Brunson was quite arrogant and sought to rise even higher, putting her own desires over the interests of the Empire.
Unlike other Imperial officers, Brunson did show some degree of camaraderie towards her subordinates, expressing her desire to see them all promoted. She could also be officious and petty towards them, as demonstrated when she responded to an officer's report that they had lost their rocket troopers by slapping him on the back of his head.
