My brain is broken. I am speechless. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW BEING SPEECHLESS WAS SOMETHING I WAS CAPABLE OF. I might've just watched this once... or twice... or twenty times... and this is still the only reaction I have...
I'm thrilled myself to have seen this incredible trailer but I've seen some parallels to The Empire Strikes Back, but I'm not worried. Yes, Rey is off training with an old Jedi master (similar to how Luke goes and trains with Yoda in Empire) but that's about it. In Empire we had a clearly good (if hot-headed and naive) Luke rushing away from his training to help his friends. I don't see the same thing happening at all here. Besides, some thematic parallels are a good thing. I don't think we'll see the full-scale "homage" of A New Hope that we saw in The Force Awakens, however. And that's also a good thing.
That Porg hanging out with Chewie is adorable. The glass fox thing, on the other hand, looks just a little too CGI for my taste. Oh well.
Kylo wins the coolest stuff award in this trailer. His Tie Fighter is sweet. Even his face bandage thing looks cool. Snoke, meanwhile, looks much better here than as holographic Snoke in Episode VII. The shot is much too quick to judge properly, but for whatever reason he looks less goofy and more sinister to me. Go figure.
It's very sad to see Leia now. It's going to be so weird watching her so long after Carrie Fisher's passing. I have an admittedly morbid curiosity about what happens to her character. I went into The Force Awakens not expecting to see Han Solo die; I'm going in with the opposite expectation with this film and Princess Leia.
I also liked how Finn once again goes to battle with a lightsaber [edit, this is not a lightsaber] this time against Captain Phasma. I hope we get more Phasma this time around.
