Atollon was a remote planet that was chosen to be the site of a Rebel base. The location was provided to the Rebels by AP-5, a Protocol Droid previously in service to the Galactic Empire. The droid chose the planet knowing that the original base candidate in the Yawst system had been secured by the Empire. Atollon became Phoenix Squadron's primary base of operations, with Chopper Base being named in honor of Chopper's role in discovering it.

History[]

Unique Natives[]

The desolate, isolated climate of Atollon provided a home for a number of different creatures, including the Krykna Spiders, Dokma, and Convorees. It is also the home-whether by birth or choice is unknown-of The Bendu, an ancient Force wielder who at some point entered a deep hibernation among the Atollon Coral Mesas.

Home to the Rebellion[]

After C1-10P, aka Chopper, hijacked an Imperial Cargo Ship aboard which AP-5 was serving, AP-5 became aware of the Rebels' plan to relocate to the Yawst system. He quickly advised against this, having learned of the Empire's presence in that system, and identified Atollon as a more suitable location. On his recommendation and Chopper's, the rebels soon traveled to the Atollon System and set up shop on the planet. Though lacking some resources, it proved an otherwise ideal location once the rebels had learned that the hostile Krykna could be repelled using sensor posts. Ahsoka Tano arrived here to join Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger on their previously scheduled mission to Malachor, from which only Ezra and a blinded Kanan returned.

Atollon continued to serve as Phoenix Squadron's hidden base as they launched various operations, including a mission to free Hondo Ohnaka from an Imperial prison. Following this experience, the Bendu was awakened by the turmoil he sensed within Kanan-particularly after Kanan discovered Ezra's use of a Sith Holocron-and summoned Kanan to meet with him. Ezra and others departed on a mission during this time, and after receiving some instruction from the Bendu Kanan departed to help them when they ran into trouble.
