
Astromech Droids served as automated mechanics, usually on starships.
They were typically 0.93 metres tall, and were equipped with several small gadgets. The droids communicated with a series of beeps.
Astromech Models[]
- C1-series astromech droid: An outdated astromech model that featured 3 arms and employed as mechanics or co-pilots on starships.
- R1-series astromech droid: The R1 droid was one of the oldest astromech models in the galaxy.
- R2-series astromech droid: A common model of astromech used in the galaxy.
- R3-series astromech droid: An R-series droid that were almost identical to the R2 droids but had an transparent domes and faster processing abilities than R2 units. The Lothal Logistics Limited company made similar astromechs to the R3 units.
- R4 astromech droid: An R-series droid that had an identical in appearance to the R2-series, except that its dome was conical instead of hemispherical. The official Press Corps of the Galactic Empire used repurposed R4 units as courier droids, as a means to physically transport data. The Jedi Order had R4 droid that were modified with a R2-series head.
- R5 series astromech droid: An R-series droid that had a shorter, cone-shaped head and had a reputation that was bad that as their manufacturer.
