Ahsoka (also marketed as Star Wars: Ahsoka) is a 2023 live-action television series created for the streaming service Disney+, serving as both a spinoff of the 2019 series The Mandalorian and a sequel to the 2014 Disney XD animated series Star Wars Rebels. The series, set 5 years after Return of the Jedi, focuses on Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren in their search for Ezra Bridger and their efforts to prevent the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Rosario Dawson reprises her role as Ahsoka, who she first played in the second season of The Mandalorian. Dave Filoni, creator of the character, served as executive producer, wrote all eight episodes and directed two. The first two episodes premiered on August 22, 2023, with the remaining episodes being released weekly on Tuesdays until October 3.
The second season is expected to begin filming in 2025 and release in 2026.
Plot[]
Premise[]
Following the capture of former Imperial shipbuilder and Nightsister Morgan Elsbeth at the hands of Ahsoka Tano, she is broken out of New Republic custody by her mercenaries, the Dark Jedi Baylan Skoll and his apprentice Shin Hati. Ahsoka informs Hera Syndulla that Thrawn and Ezra are likely alive and they must move quickly to prevent Thrawn from returning and starting a war against the New Republic.
In possession of a star map leading to the galaxy where Thrawn was banished to, Ahsoka and the droid Huyang recruit Sabine Wren to assist them in reading it. Sabine is initially reluctant to help, as she was briefly trained as a Jedi by Ahsoka before they parted on bad terms. When she is able to decipher the map, Morgan sends Shin to Lothal to retrieve it. Sabine duels her with Ezra's lightsaber, but she is stabbed and the map stolen. As Sabine recovers, Hera and Ahsoka learn that Morgan has an operation that has refurbished a Super Star Destroyer hyperdrive, one of several for a hyperspace ring known as the Eye of Sion intended to reach Thrawn in the far galaxy where he was banished.
With encouragement from Hera and Huyang, Sabine cuts her hair short, reclaims her Mandalorian armor, and begins training as Ahsoka's Padawan once again as they set off to find Ezra and stop Thrawn.

- The fifth episode features flashbacks to the Star Wars: The Clone Wars film, as well as the episodes "Storm Over Ryloth" and "Old Friends Not Forgotten".
- While Chopper had previously appeared in live action in Rogue One, he was fully rebuilt for this series with more detail, closely matching his appearance in Star Wars: The Bad Batch.
