Hi all! I have an awesome update regarding the Unified Community Platform (UCP). As a reminder, the UCP is a new unified platform giving users the up-to-date MediaWiki experience including the latest features! More can be found here as a reminder.
In terms of new updates, Fandom staff posted three staff blogs:
- Unified Community Platform: The Vision, Purpose, and Process - This update provides a clearer idea as to the end goals of the platform. This includes mobile editing, latest features, customization options - and more! Mobile editing will be an especially popular addition, given the rising number of mobile users across Fandom.
- Creating new wikis on the Unified Community Platform - Fandom is now allowing users to create new communities on the UCP! Users will be able to get a first look at the new platform. The wiki creation process will also aim to prevent duplicate wikis being created, allowing for users to contribute to active communities and be part of a Fandom project viewed by massive amounts of passionate fans!
- Profile and Message Wall on the Unified Community Platform - Profiles are getting an update on the UCP, with a cleaner design and also more freedom for users to express themselves. More fields have been added and you can now add a banner image like you can on Twitter and other social media sites. Message Wall is also receiving a lift, getting a cleaner design more in line with Discussions to keep things consistent.
I'm here to let you know that staff have exciting plans for the future of video on Fandom, including the future of what was Featured Video (FV) and what is replacing it.
A replacement for FV, titled The Loop, is set to be a mini-show that will be different for each vertical, highlighting the latest news from topics relating to that vertical. The best bit? These videos will use wiki articles and will encourage users to visit the wikis featured in the videos to find out more.
As a new episode of The Loop will be released weekly, you will see a wide variety of wikis of featured so there is every chance yours will be featured too!
Please see the latest staff blog for more details and feel free to ask me any questions!
Secondly, staff posted a blog about Fandom in 2019 and the amazing things achieved! Here's to a great 2020. :)
Hi guys! Fandom staff posted two important and exciting blogs recently which I wanted to make you aware of!
- Global taxonomy
The title sounds really fancy and complicated, but this boils down to Fandom recommending content you want to see. Fandom has received feedback from users who are receiving recommendations to visit certain wikis they are not interested in.
With this data driven approach, users on a wiki will receive recommendations for new communities to visit based on what typical readers of that subject are interested in. That way you can attract like-minded users to your community and you get to visit other wikis you are interested in!
Please do read the blog for more information. If you have any questions on this, please feel free to let me know!
- Templates and scripting
The blog is packed with details so please do give it a read! Also feel free to ask me any questions.
Hi again guys! I'm just dropping by to let you know of a new scheme introduced at Fandom called Editor Rewards. This is a great new scheme designed to reward editors on Fandom, with merchandise ranging from free video games, hoodies, collectibles, and more!
To find out more about the scheme, please feel free to read the Introduction to Editor Rewards blog post Fandom staff posted. Also, please do leave feedback in the comments section of that blog as staff will be able to respond quickly and answer any questions you may have.
Introducing Special:Analytics, a new statistics tracking tool for admins on all Fandom wikis!
While you don't have access to the feature on this wiki yet, the feature includes some really insightful statistics that should allow admins to inform some wiki decisions, such as:
- Top viewed pages
- # of page views (daily over the past 30 days)
- Most visited files
- Desktop vs mobile sessions
- and more!
So as I mentioned above, this feature is really great as it allows you to see what areas are doing very well and how you can capitalise on them. For example, the tool shows us that just over half of this wiki's viewership (51%) view the wiki from mobile phones. A good way to accommodate this very large amount of viewers would be to create a Mobile Main Page for the wiki and enable Discussions here to make conversations easier between users about the show. This is just one way this feature is super useful! :)
Hopefully you like this feature, it's been highly requested for some time and we would really appreciate your feedback on it. Hopefully you can make use of it on your wikis too! For more help with it, please feel free to ask me questions and also refer to these two super useful articles:
Hi everyone. I'm just dropping by to let you know that Fandom will be upgrading to a modern version of MediaWiki which could bring new extensions! More details can be found here! :)
Hi! My name is Spongebob456, and I’m the Fandom Wiki Manager for the Star Wars Rebels wiki!
You may have recognised me from my past contributions and the time I have spent here has been great! Star Wars Rebels really is a great show.
I am here to help the community and be a liaison to full-time Fandom staff. If you ever have a question or issue relating to the wiki, editing, etc., please contact me on my message wall.
A frequently asked question after the finale is, why did Empire Strikes Back cite the Death Star as the Rebellion's first Major victory when they'd already liberated a whole planet (aside from the film coming out decades before Rebels even started) and I think I know - it wasn't the Rebellion's victory it was Ezra's.
Think about it, frequently in season 4 they remark that Mon Montha and the rest of the Rebellion abandon Lothol, and it was only the Ghost crew who would come to fight for the planet. So the Rebellion didn't take the credit for Ezra's victory, as it was his plan and several memebers of the team that fought to save Lothol came specifically for Ezra.
I've been rewatching Season 4 of Rebels and have been thinking about the World Between Worlds (WBW) A LOT.
One thing that's puzzling me is that there's more than one entrance into the world it seems. In seasons 1 and 2, Ezra goes there to get his crystal and chat with Yoda and obviously he goes in season 4.
Filoni has said the WBW looks different in season 4 because Ezra has more knowledge of the force.
I was theorising that perhaps there may only be one proper entrance (the portal) which use the wolves as gatekeepers. In the other appearances into the WBW, Ezra is more transported there by someone else out of his control.
But going on what Filoni has said, even if Ezra was transported against his will as it were, had he had more knowledge in the force, he would've seen it fully fledged anyway.
It's confused me guys haha. What are your thoughts on the multiple entrances?
In a surprise announcement at San Diego Comic-Con today, Lucasfilm released a trailer revealing that 12 of the remaining episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, left unaired due to the show's cancellation in 2013, would be fully finished and released.
If you need me, I'll be on the ceiling jubilantly shouting into my pillow.
Thanks to the sharp-eyed folks running Fandom's Twitter account, we have our first (extremely blurry) look at the main characters of Star Wars: Resistance! Apparently during a Disney partners meeting in France called Rendez-vous Des Partenaires 2018, they were showing off images of their newest/latest shows, and Resistance was one of them! There's no other info I can find besides the picture, so I guess all we've got is a photo to dissect for a few months until the official PR ramps up and the show premieres.
I gotta say, I was hoping Kazuda Xiono was going to be a female character so we could have an actual, official starring female TV character (Ahsoka shared the spotlight with Anakin, Obi-Wan and Rex, and Rebels was pretty much entirely Ezra's story from the beginning with the lead role sometimes passed around to the other Spectres) but if I'm correct in thinking the guy in front wearing green is Kazuda, he reminds me so much of Ezra just off that pose and expression alone that I'll forgive it. :) And not only do we get BB-8, there's another BB unit behind him. WE GET TWO BB UNITS. I'm actually surprised to see Poe there (I'm pretty sure that's Poe, anyways) because I thought he and Phasma would be guest roles or something, popping in every once in a while like Nick Fury and Maria Hill's roles in season one of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or something. I am so totally on board with the possibility that Poe's one of the lead characters of this show. He's in the movies, he had his own 31-issue comic series, and now he's possibly got a regular role in a TV show? For a guy who never knows who's supposed to talk first, he sure is getting around. :) :) :)
Hope you guys are as excited as I am! Can't wait until we get more info on the series!
StarWars.com announced today that production has begun on a new animated series set before ‘’The Force Awakens’’, titled ‘’Star Wars Resistance’’. This show will focus on a new character, Kazuda Xiono, and the pilots of the Resistance fighting against the rising First Order. The show will also feature film characters such as BB-8, Poe Dameron, and Captain Phasma. Given the era it’s set in, we may very well see Jacen Syndulla as well. The show could also break away from the animation we’re used to and use an anime style instead.

Hiya, I'm an old school enthusiast who's never been part of a SW fandom, so there's many things that have passed me by, like the EU books and comics etc. I have however been following the Clone Wars and now Rebels series on DVD, loving it right from the get-go. I'm coming to the end of s3 of SW: Rebels now and was wondering if anyone has a handy spoiler-free (I'm not going to see Rebels s4 for a good few months) play list of Mandalorian-centric episodes from both series?
Also, just to cement my status as a newb to the EU, why do Jango and Boba Fett look like Mandalorians? Boba because of his father, certainly, but was Jango a Mandalorian? What's his story, and where's the best place to discover it?
